Terrebonne General Health System Welcomes Dr. Jon Mangels, Hospital Medicine Physician, to Its Esteemed Medical Staff

Terrebonne General Health System is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Jon Mangels, Hospital Medicine Physician, to its esteemed medical staff.

Dr. Jon Mangels, a Houma native and Terrebonne High School alum, graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and received a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Mangles earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada (Caribbean), graduating magna cum laude, and subsequently completed a Transitional Year at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Dr. Mangels is board-eligible in Internal Medicine and will join the Hospital Medicine group at Terrebonne General Health System, caring for patients during their hospital stay.

“It’s a very special feeling to be practicing medicine at the hospital where I gained my first experience in health care,” said Dr. Mangels. “During my undergraduate years, I began as a patient transporter in 2013 and later joined the Emergency Department as a patient care tech. From the time I entered medical school, my husband and I always planned to return home to our family and friends and put down roots in the community that raised us. After all these years, returning to Terrebonne General feels like I’ve come full circle - picking up where I left off. It is an honor to come home and serve the people of Terrebonne Parish and the surrounding communities.”
