David L. Hagen, MD

About Dr. Hagen

In 1986, Dr. David Lee Hagen, after the successful completion of his medical internship at the University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, a surgical internship at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and finally completing his residency in ENT/Head & Neck Surgery at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, was honored to join his father’s practice. Sharing the same family values and reputation for caring as his father, Dr. Werner Hagen, Dr. David soon developed an immensely successful practice. He was privileged to be able to introduce technological innovations of the 1980s to the Houma/Thibodaux regions. These innovations included the use of the CO2 Laser for both oral and laryngeal surgery, along with the application of the use of laser in ENT surgery. Current concepts of the surgical management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea were also introduced for the benefit of our patients.

Dr. David considers his strengths in medicine to be that of the middle ear and mastoid surgery, reconstructive surgery for hearing, pediatric ENT, evaluation, and treatment of migraine headaches, as well as evaluation of reflux and throat disorders. He not only enjoys treating his patients but also appreciates listening to them and learning from each of them. Dr. David was born in New Orleans to Virginia and Werner Hagen in 1955 and his family, which included one sister and four brothers, moved to Houma in 1959.

Dr. David’s interests are tailgating with his friends and family at the LSU football games, reading, hunting with his sons, and traveling with his wife. Dr. David and his wife, Melissa, live in Houma and have six sons, two daughters, and one grandson.
