Narcotics Addiction Resources

Our country faces one of the biggest public health crises with the opioid epidemic. In 2016, there were approximately 2.1 million people who abused or were dependent on opioids, such as prescription painkillers.

Signs & Symptoms of Addiction

Signs and symptoms of addiction can appear in different ways. Some common symptoms include:

  • Physical: Having dilated and red eyes, looking pale or undernourished, experiencing a change in eating habits
  • Behavioral: Missing work or school and experiencing work or school problems, having disrupted sleeping patterns
  • Financial problems: Having debts and being financially strapped because of buying drugs you cannot afford
  • Emotional: Becoming excessively irritable and/or argumentative, defensive, rationalizing and offering alibis, excuses, or justifications for behavior, and blaming others

If you believe someone you love is addicted, please seek guidance from a professional. Addiction is a daily struggle and requires outside support.
